My heart is torn between East and West. I live somewhere between the present and the past. I don't know who I am.

Just another human being biding their time on this earth. Passionate about current affairs, history, politics (particularly MENA region), religion, cute animals and food.

Hey guys! The only reliable charity that I was able to find is the 'International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies' (IFRC). They haven’t set up an appeal specifically for Turkey but I did find this on their website:

Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF)
A pool of unearmarked money used to provide immediate funding for emergencies.

Please, please, please, if you’re able to, please donate any amount of money that you’re capable of donating by clicking the link above, seriously, every little bit helps, the amount you donate might not seem life-changing to you but to people who’ve had their lives changed completely today in Turkey, it will mean a lot.

Thank you <3

btw guys, if you haven’t noticed; when clicked, ‘#Pray4Turkey' links to the trending topic twitter page so you guys can keep up with updates on the situation in Turkey. In my opinion, it's not enough to just sit and pray and hope things will get better, taking a more active part will help to bring actual aid to those who have been affected by the earthquake on the ground. There's many things you can do to help, raising awareness is one of them and also donating money to a trustworthy charity/organisation (who will actually deliver aid to those who need it). I am currently searching for such a charity/organisation so if anyone knows of a reliable charity/organisation, please send me a message so I can post a link to it on here and hopefully, our donations will make a difference isA.

Thank you <3

Safe but shocked: A young woman falls to her knees in the city centre of Van. Up to 1,000 people are thought to have lost their lives after after a magnitude 7.2 earthquake hit eastern Turkey, state-run TRT television reports.

An eight-storey building with shops underneath was flattened. Residents sobbed outside the ruins, hoping that missing relatives would be rescued. CNN-Turk television showed one young man crying: 'My wife and child are inside! My 4-month-old baby is inside!'

JAPAN’S ANIMALS NEED HELP, TOO!

For each person who ‘likes’ the Facebook Page of Dog Bless You, a dollar will be donated to help finance the use of search and rescue dogs that are so critical in disaster situations like what’s happening in Japan right now. You can also donate to Animal Refuge Kansai, the American Humane Association, The National Disaster Search Dog Foundation, or World Vets. Japan Cat Network, together with Heart Tokushima and Animal Friends Niigata has formed Japan Animal Rescue and Support.

It was thought that Cat Island had been completely submerged, but there’s been an update saying that the cats and people on Tashirojima are okay, however, they have a lot of building damage and are in need of necessities for both humans and cats.

PLEASE REBLOG!

Reblogging myself because this is important to me.

Please don’t just ‘like’ this post — reblog it and help spread the word — and donate!

Here are some more links aimed at helping animals in Japan:

Students hold candles as they pray for Japan’s earthquake victims inside their school in the western Indian city of Ahmedabad.

Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers, natural disasters are truly horrific occurrences and to be struck by two at the same time must be catastrophic!
